Four Common Remedies For Teeth Whitening

What causes teeth to become discoloured?

Unfortunately there are tons of things that will cause tooth discolouration. Some are easy to avoid, but many are certain. For smokers, the answer’s fairly obvious - nicotine stains teeth and damages gums - prevention is way better than treatment in this case. Give it up before it’s too late, or your may end up at the dentist undergoing way more than minor treatment.

Harder to give up for some folk are the pepping-up caffeinated drinks : coffee, tea and colas. The damage is more subtle and it might take years before you notice any effects at all - but cutting back on these drinks can stop the problem from worsening. Dark food and drinks, such as red wine, blackcurrant and black coffee can also cause teeth to become discolored.

One of the most inevitable causes of changes in tooth colour is time itself. The layer under the enamel on a tooth, called dentin, steadily gets darker with age. Sometimes too the antibiotics we took as a kid, or an accident that ‘traumatized’ the tooth - causing the root to ‘die’ - causes discolouration. An unfortunate side-effect of Root Canal treatment is the darkening of a tooth.

Can Anything Be Done To Reverse Tooth Discoloration?

More than half the population are unsatisfied with the colour of their teeth and the good reports is there are a variety of dental treatments available that will make a big difference. 4 of the most common remedies are Bonding, Tooth bleaching, Veneers and Caps or Crowns.

Dental bonding is an easy technique using resin on teeth. Bonding will lighten the any stains and cover any flaws with a thin plastic coating. It will last for 7-10 years.

Tooth lightening is slightly more debatable, as OTC solutions are unproven and often ineffectual. Professional dental preparations are safe and will make a gigantic difference. It’s a mild bleaching process that removes stains and revives teeth to their original colour. Most people will see an improvement after the very first treatment and after 2-4 weeks, your teeth will be a healthy natural colour.

Dental Veneers are another popular dental treatment for bleaching teeth. They are custom-made porcelain facings that are glued without delay to the outside of your tooth. They’re only one millimetre thick and the original tooth is ’shaved’ by the equivalent amount so you wont notice any difference to the thickness of your tooth. Veneers are terribly immune to marking, which is an advantage over porous bonding, but they’ll typically cost double what bonding costs per tooth.

Since the appearance of veneers, caps and crowns are used less often to improve the appearance of teeth, but the extra coverage and strength a crown gives is advantageous in a few cases. The whole tooth above the gum-line is covered and the crown becomes, to all intents and purposes the new surface of the tooth. Crowns are typically a bit more pricey than veneers.

Bad Breath Treatment Lowdown

Bad breath is a problem that many people suffer from. Most people already know that they have bad breath because of the disgusted look that others give them while they are talking to each other. This condition can cause anyone to become desperate looking for a bad breath treatment that will be their salvation.

But these people should not worry too much. They will probably not have too tough of a time getting rid of their problem as long as it did not result from a medical condition. Eliminating halitosis can be as simple as changing your diet or following a good daily oral hygiene routine.

Many people want to know the cause of a problem because they believe it will make it easier to eliminate the problem. This theory makes sense and should help you find a cure for your conditon. Believe it or not the bacteria in your mouth is the most common cause of your horrible smelling breath. The problem is that the bacteria will feed on the food that gets caught between your teeth and in the other parts of your mouth. This results in the release of sulfur which is why your mouth smells like sweaty socks.

Studies have shown that high protein foods contain an excessive amount of sulfur. This is exactly the reason why you should not be on a diet that has a lot of high protein food if you want to avoid the embarrassment of having halitosis.

Instead of eating high protein foods, you should eat fresh fruits and vegetables instead. This is better for your breath because this change in your diet can help increase your saliva flow. This saliva plays an important role because it will flush out some of the halitosis-causing food and bacteria and leave your breath smelling much nicer.

If your bad breath does not result from gastric disorders or any other medical condition, then you will not have a hard time finding the correct way to eliminate your condition. A simple bad breath treatment that might work is to follow the rules for proper oral hygiene on a regular basis.

You can start by buying a good toothbrush and dental floss. To get rid of any food remnants and bacteria, you will have to brush your teeth and floss after every meal.

You should also consider purchasing a good mouthwash. The mouthwash will be effective in removing some of the odor-causing bacteria. However, you should be careful to not purchase a mouthwash that contains alcohol because it can dry your mouth out which will result in the production of even more sulfur-producing bacteria.

The bacteria that feeds on the leftover food found between your teeth can also be found on your tongue. This is why you should also brush your tongue regularly. This will help eliminate some of the leftover food and bacteria found on your tongue which will go a long way towards freshening your breath up.

If you smoke and have halitosis, you should consider quitting because smoking can dry your mouth out. Dry mouth can be disastrous to your breath because this condition will limit your production of saliva. If cost is an issue, you might want to stop smoking because this is a cheaper option than purchasing an expensive commercial bad breath treatment.

Another reason why you should stop smoking is that it can make your hair and clothes smell really bad. So do yourself and everyone else a favor and stop lighting up.

People who drink a lot of alcohol should also be aware of getting halitosis. This occurs because too much alcohol can dry your mouth out pretty quickly. Whatever positive results you get from cutting high protein foods from your diet, using breath mints, and practicing a good oral hygiene routine daily can be diminished if you drink a lot of alcohol so do your breath a favor and keep your alcohol consumption in check.

Individuals experiencing tooth loss trouble generally prefer having dental implants to regain their natural beauty. Use of implants will neither result to fake-looking teeth nor modify your jaw shape unbecomingly. The overall value and permanency of implants make them preferable to other less expensive tooth replacement methods. This is the article for you if you need to hear 5 benefits to using implants and where you should go for high quality dental implants. Read this site if you want implant dentist sydney information.

With implant dentistry, aesthetics is one of the more crucial factors to consider. Looking after the health of your teeth and gums is your numero uno priority if you want to have a killer smile. If you don’t want to worry about loose and unnatural-looking replacements, teeth implants are what you need. Implants are designed to retain the outline of your jaw or face. People tend to look more than their age when their jaws start to shrink due to tooth loss. To regain what you’ve lost, you just have to use one thing: implants. Detailed cost of dental implants resources can be found there.

Improved comfort is just one of the many benefits you can start enjoying with dental implants. Loosened dentures could, little by little, lead to the deformation of your jaw line. This can lead to pressure on the gums, which can result in exposed nerves and pain. If, however, you choose to go with tooth implants, then not even people with clear eyesight will be able to tell where natural teeth ends and where implants start because they fit like it’s always been there.

Sticky food like bubblegum is a big no-no for people wearing dentures because they can cause the appliance to malfunction or fall off. This kind of drawback, however, won’t be something you’ll encounter if an implants dentist provides you with implants. People with dentures have the privilege to enjoy smorgasbords and buffets. A bridge laid over your palate is one more discomfort you’d have to endure when sporting dentures. Food tends to lose its flavor because of its presence. Only the use of implants can prevent these things from happening to you.

An implant dentist can help someone who is experiencing slurred speech or frequent mumbling due to dentures that do not fit right. Such fears affect your ability to converse naturally and confidently but again, you can eliminate all of these with a tooth implant. Implants are quite beneficial for those with vested interests in public speaking.

Do you know that dentures have to be cleaned and applied daily for effective use? If you dislike the regular maintenance and procedures associated with dentures then you need to seriously consider having implants. When you brush your teeth, you get to clean your implants as well and that’s good enough to maintain its effectiveness.

A dentist specializing in implant dentistry is the best person to tell you more about the substantial advantages offered by implants.

Bad Breath Cure Instructions

Everyone knows one friend who is burdened with halitosis or bad breath and is thoroughly embarrassed by it. You most likely prayed that friend of yours would find a bad breath cure as soon as possible after you spoke to him or her and took a whiff of that bad smell.

You probably also wanted to know what the causes of bad breath were so that you could avoid putting yourself in the same situation. The answer is anaerobic sulfur producing bacteria. Anaerobic means without oxygen. This means that these bacteria will grow in places where there is no oxygen. This is why these bacteria are located between the fibers that your tongue is made up of and not on the surface.

Every person has these type of bacteria in his or her mouth. Unfortunately, you cannot get rid of these bad breath-causing bacteria because they serve an important function in the human body. They break down proteins found in food which aids in the digestive process. However, situations occur where the bacteria break down the proteins too quickly which will result in the release of volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs). These compounds can leave a nasty taste in your mouth and give you smelly breath.

Another cause of halitosis can be your post nasal drip. You can expect to find plenty of mucus and phlegm on your tongue and throat if you have a post nasal drip. Bacteria can extract odorous VSCs from the proteins that are found in the mucus and phlegm. The only bad breath cure is to somehow reduce the amount of VSCs that are released since it is impossible to completely eliminate the halitosis-causing bacteria.

To reduce the production of VSCs, you should avoid situations which may make your halitosis worse. One of these situations is a dry mouth. Having a dry mouth means that you will produce less saliva. This causes problems because saliva contains oxygen and having less saliva will allow anaerobic bacteria to reproduce and produce more foul-smelling sulfur.

In this situation, an effective cure for bad breath would be to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. If you want to avoid a dry mouth, you should also avoid taking antihistamines or drinking beverages, such as beer or wine, that contain alcohol because they can dry out your mouth really quickly. You should also refrain from taking any of the mouthwashes on the market that contain alcohol.

Another simple bad breath cure would be to avoid foods that are causes of bad breath. Foods that are dense with proteins including fish, chicken, and beef should be eliminated from your diet.

Many dairy products, such as cheese, milk, and ice cream, are also packed with proteins that the bacteria can just feast on. People who are lactose intolerant should especially avoid dairy foods because they have problems digesting these products. This will allow bacteria to feast on the protein they contain even longer which will make your breath smell even worse.

As you read in this article, there are many causes for your bad breath. Fortunately, you also found out that many things can be used as a bad breath cure. If you want to avoid having halitosis, then you should definitely avoid having a dry mouth. You can prevent your mouth from becoming dry by drinking a lot of water.

Antihistamines and alcohol can make your mouth dry so you should avoid these things. Beer, wine, and some mouthwashes contain alcohol so you should refrain from using these things.

You can do your breath a favor by not eating foods that have a lot of protein. These foods include beef, fish, chicken, and dairy products such as ice cream, cheese, and milk. You are now fairly informed on the causes of bad breath and what to avoid so there is no excuse why you cannot make sure that you and your friends avoid engaging in activities that will make any of them search desperately for a bad breath cure.

Cosmetic Dentist, Wilmington - Selection Considerations

June 18, 2009 by Jim Carpenter

Choosing the right cosmetic dentist to carry out the procedures in order to provide you with a wonderful smile needs you to take a number of things into consideration first. It does not matter where you live, whether it is in Wilmington, Tampa or New York City you need to keep these things in mind. In this article we look at some of things that are important when considering which cosmetic dentist, Wilmington or anywhere else you are going to use.

Firstly it is important that you find yourself a dentist who has gained the right qualifications and training to allow them to carry out cosmetic dentistry procedures and practice as one. Prior to 1984 it was very difficult to find such people easily, but with the formation of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) in this year this all changed.

By contacting this organization they can offer you a list of the members that have achieved the appropriate accreditation from them and in order to gain it there is a very rigorous process that these dentists need to complete.

In order for them to become members all cosmetic dentists are required to continue with their training and their skills will be regularly tested to ensure that they remain high. As well as regularly testing they need to also submit a number of cases each year which will then be judged by a panel of their peers.

As part of their training all cosmetic dentists need to have participated in a post graduate program but this is not always possible and so may need to carry on with their training at a later date. Along with looking for those cosmetic dentists who have attained the right level of training look for those who are constantly wanting to advance their skills further and are willing to learn about new techniques and materials.

Cosmetic dentistry is a very complex field of dentistry and the procedures involved are not those that can be performed by a general dentist in order to get the best results. Therefore when considering any cosmetic dentist to carry out improvements to your teeth for aesthetic reasons make sure that they have carried out the procedures you are looking to have done before. For example if you are going to be having dental veneers applied make sure that the dentist you select is one that has applied not just hundreds but thousands of them before.

Another thing to take into consideration when trying to choose the right cosmetic dentist, Wilmington or elsewhere to carry out the treatment you want is how well you get on with them. You want to have one who you feel comfortable with and who is going to listen to what it is you want. Plus look for a cosmetic dentist who explains the procedures in clear simple terms which are easy to understand.

Plus you need to find a cosmetic dentist, Wilmington who is actually going to listen should you have any concerns or worries about the procedures involved and will be able to allay these for you. Only after talking to you should they then arrange to carry out an inspection of one’s mouth and then diagnose the most appropriate course of treatment. You should never actually rush into using the first one you come across but spend time comparing several and arranging to have consultations with them all.

Bad Breath Treatment - Easy Tips

Millions of people must deal with the embarrassing problem of having bad breath or halitosis. There are many telltale signs that you have bad breath. They include someone handing you a breath mint or making a funny face when they stand too close to you while you are talking. An effective bad breath treatment can be the holy grail for these people who are most likely desperately looking for a solution to their problem.

If your halitosis was not caused by a medical condition, then you should not worry too much about finding an effective means of eliminating the bad stink coming from your mouth because many people have found success by using the simple solutions mentioned below. These solutions include practicing good oral hygiene everyday and eliminating certain foods from your diet.

Sometimes it is easier to understand how to get rid of a problem such as bad breath if you know what causes it in the first place. The most common cause of halitosis is the bacteria in your mouth. If food gets stuck between your teeth after you are finished with a meal, the oral bacteria will feed on this leftover food which will cause the release of sulfur which is responsible for the bad smell in your mouth.

Food that is high in protein is dense with sulfur. This is why many people who are on a high protein diet are unfortunately burdened with disgusting breath.

If you want to do your breath a big favor, you should consider going on a diet that has plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. In order to understand how this helps, you must realize that saliva is used to flush away some of the halitosis-causing food and bacteria from your mouth. By adding these foods to your diet, you will increase your production of saliva and this is why you will be left with much fresher smelling breath.

If a medical condition is not the cause of your halitosis, then it should not be too difficult to find a cure for your embarrassing dilemma. One possible solution is to simply determine the proper procedures for good oral hygiene and try to follow them on a daily basis. This is one bad breath treatment that some people have found success with.

The first step you should take is to purchase a good toothbrush and dental floss. If you need help in this area, you should consider looking on the Internet or asking your dentist for more information. After every meal, you should brush and floss your teeth. This will help remove some of the leftover food and bacteria that is wrecking your breath.

You should also buy one of the more reliable mouthwashes. The mouthwash should have a history of doing a good job of eliminating some of the halitosis-causing bacteria and food. But you must show some caution and not purchase any mouthwash on the market. You should look for a mouthwash that has no alcohol in it. The problem with alcohol is that it can cause your mouth to become dry which causes the release of even more sulfur-producing bacteria.

The food that the bacteria feeds on can not only be found between your teeth but also in the other parts of your mouth including your tongue and cheeks. So do yourself a favor and brush your tongue and cheeks on a regular basis. Getting rid of any remaining food and bacteria in the different parts of your mouth can help you greatly in cleaning your breath up.

Smoking is a very expensive habit. It can also cause your hair and clothes to stink pretty bad too. So if you want to save some money and spare the olfactory senses of everyone around you, then maybe you should stop lighting up those cigars and cigarettes.

People who drink a lot of alcohol should also be aware of getting halitosis. This occurs because too much alcohol can dry your mouth out pretty quickly. There are many methods and results associated with teeth whitening. A bleaching agent for teeth works much better when used with a laser that can penetrate tooth enamel, and these two tools are part of some of the best whitening systems that dentists use today. The fact is, bleaching works best with laser procedures, and many patients have proven this after they got a great smile following only an office visit. This article will explain how laser teeth whitening works and provide contact information for a clinic that provides this service at the end. Expert resources on laser teeth whitening are located on that site.

Whitening products can be bought over the counter and are often used for home bleaching. However, these systems must be used over a period of weeks or months to achieve desired results and the results may not be as dramatic as you are hoping for. Unable to address the problem of deep staining, these home products are also not as effective as one might think. What you can do, however, is to have laser tooth whitening, which can deal with this problem better. Getting your teeth to be as much as ten shades whiter is possible, and with just one visit to your dentist. The process will happen in one session, and it will often go for an hour. Contact dentists who are experts in cosmetic dentistry, and you can get professional teeth whitening done best. If you need whitening done by a specialist that has a good grasp on the technology, as well as a lot of experience in the field, then contact these dental experts. Finding a cosmetic dentist is as simple as talking to family and friends who have had similar procedures performed, or talking to your family dentist and asking for recommendations.

Plaque deposits must first be removed from both your teeth and gum line when you first get to your dentist’s office, and your whitening will begin with this thorough cleaning. Your teeth will then be coated with a hydrogen peroxide gel. Once the teeth have all the coating that they need, a laser is worked onto the gel so that it can move more deftly onto the tooth surface. On average, it will take an hour for this procedure to be finished. Sometimes, patients will not need more sessions of these whitening procedures.

Completion of work in a single session is sometimes possible for dentist teeth whitening, but for some cases of severe staining, this one session will definitely not be enough. A touch up kit may also be provided to you by your laser dentistry professional as an option for you to buy after your session is done. These kits will allow patients to touch up areas that become stained again at home. A lifetime treatment option is also one thing that a dental office may offer, which can allow you to visit the dental office for more touch ups in the future. Get the whitest smile, and for a longer time, with these options, which involve little time and cost.

The early days of teeth whitening have long since changed, and there are new things in the field now. Most of today’s patients have left satisfied not only by the quick time that they spent at the dentist, but how dramatic the results of their whitening procedures are. Some dental offices even offer options in terms of financing so that you can afford the procedures. Tips To Improve Your Teeth

June 15, 2009 by Trilochan Bhattacharya
Filed under Dental Care

Has your dentist been giving you “the look” lately? Some of us haven’t really had the routine for oral heigene thrust onto us, as children have today. So, what can we do to obtain that pearly-white smile This article is going to discuss a few simple ways to not only improve the condition of your teeth, but to maintain an over-all healthy mouth.

One of the most overly talked about care strategies that you can do to improve your teeth is simply to brush. Brushing your teeth is perhaps the easiest way to maintain a healthy mouth. However you would be surprised at how many people don’t brush on a regular basis or may not even understand how to brush the way that you are supposed to.

Brushing should be done at least twice a day. Usually it is recommended after breakfast and then again after dinner. However to be most effective it is generally a good idea to brush after every meal. Typically that would mean 3 times a day. Unfortunately, we usually tend to be away from home during this time of day, be it working or for other reasons. For this reason it is important that when we are at home we are brushing properly.

Proper brushing of your teeth first involves a good toothbrush. You typically want a soft bristle toothbrush so as to avoid any problems with over brushing or brushing too hard. There are many people that are under the impression that brushing hard is good for their teeth. In fact brushing too hard on your teeth and gums is really quite horrible for your gums and teeth. It’s also important to choose a good toothpaste. You can choose from many, from cavity protection, to whitening teeth, to total care.

{After developing a good brushing routine, you may wish to improve the whiteness of your teeth. This can be done by laser whitening, whitening trays, aware that these methods are not meant to be done on a regular basis–usually once, maybe twice a year is sufficient. Over-use of these products can weaken your teeth and cause sensitivity.}

So to recap, it’s imperative that you brush twice a day, with a good (soft-to-medium bristled) toothbrush, using a decent toothpaste. Remember that teeth whitening using chemicals is alright every once in a while, but are not meant to be used on a regular basis. If you have any questions about oral health or experience any painful symptoms such as sensitivity or teeth grinding, you should try to see your dentist immediately to discuss the situation, as letting painful symptoms persist could lead to irreversible damage later on.
