Selecting Truly Organic Essential Oil

There are a host of different companies that offer ‘organic’ essential oils in their products. There may be chances of some companies claiming to be organic on the label but are not actually certified organic essential oils as per the USDA.The companies who claim their product as organic have to go through the standards of the USDA.  There are other organizations as well that often have even stricter standards that the USDA for organic products, such as the IFOAM or the CCOF International that will also offer a certification for companies that conform to their requirements.

Certified Organic Essential Oil

When a company makes organic essential oils that are certified to be truly organic, the companies have ensured that the oils are obtained from plants that have not been treated by any chemical products.  This means that chemical pesticides or other products that are commonly used in traditional farming cannot be used on the plants that are used in organic essential oils.It also means that the soil in which the plants are grown should be kept away from chemicals.  This meant that the soil cannot have chemical fertilizers or other products used on it, and cannot have had these products used on it for a certain number of years before the organic plants are grown in it, so that there is not any residue.

Instead of using these chemical products, the organic essential oil companies grow their plants with the use of natural pesticides and natural fertilizers to produce rich crops.  In order to create organic essential oils by these means, the process is more expensive, taking more time and energy to use these natural methods of production.  This means that the organic essential oils will be more expensive than traditionally grown essential oils, even those that are stated to be organic but are not certified to be so.

The reason that it is important to buy organic essential oils is that the chemicals that are used in the soil and on the plants can be absorbed into them and thus passed on to the individuals that eat or use the products made from these plants.  The pesticides that are sprayed on the fruit trees from which many of the essential oils are made from are absorbed through the rind of the fruit and contaminate the fruit itself.  The organic essential oils are free from these contaminants since these companies refuse to use the harmful chemicals.

Massage Therapy Training - What Does It Take?

Massage therapy is growing in popularity because of the many health benefits that it contains. However, we the realization of the benefits is not something that is recent. As a matter of fact, massage therapy has been used for approximately 2,400 years. It was actually Hippocrates who noted that friction has certain health benefits. In modern times, massage therapy is being used for treating tired muscles, reducing stress, taking care of painful ailments, and even in physical therapy as a tool to rehabilitate after an injury.

The massage therapist massages the soft tissues of the body in order to improve circulation. This improvement in circulation removes waste from the muscles. Anytime there is any sort of waste product in the muscle, the muscle doesnt work properly. Administering massage therapy does take a special type of training, which is not hard to acquire.

The Training

There are almost 2,000 massage therapy programs within the United States today. They exist within post secondary schools and in colleges. There are many career centers that offer massage therapy courses. Students can acquire financial aid to take the classes or they can pay out of their pocket. The cost of the class is usually not as much as your traditional college course. This is because massage therapy programs do not last as long. There are some programs which last as little as 10 months to a year. The focus is just on massage therapy and the curriculum that is required to prepare for it.

The curriculum includes learning anatomy, the organs and tissues, and the physiology of the body. Massage therapists also learn business ethics and they study body mechanics and motion.

Learning massage therapy is also very hands on. In order to properly learn the techniques, the student must practice frequently. This is usually done with their fellow students before taking their newly learned techniques on the road. Many massage therapy schools will take their students to sporting events, such as marathons, to give massages to the marathon runners at the end of the event. This helps speed up muscle repair and makes the runner feel much better.

What does it take?

Now that you know that finding a school is easy and that getting in is fairly easy, you simply have to have a drive to learn. As stated before, the classes do not last that long. This means you have to learn a lot in a short period of time. With the proper motivation, you can do that.

In the end, you do have to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. This is an exam given by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and they do have their own criteria that must be met.

There are several areas that are covered by this exam. They are: kinesiology and physiology, pathology, therapeutic massage assessment and application, anatomy, ethics, professional standards, and legal and business practices.

Once this exam is passed, you can run with the world. This is because you can be employed within a chiropractors office, a fitness club, another type of doctors office, or you can have your own business. If you can acquire your own massage therapy equipment, then you will make the highest salary by having your own business. This is because people will pay a lot of money for a quality massage.

So if you don’t think you have what it takes, know that you are wrong because you do. Find a school, enroll for the class, take the class, take the exam, and then decide what it is you want to do from there. There are many career possibilities, so run with them.

Essential Oils of the Bible

Humans have treasured essential oils for their medicinal and sensory properties for thousands of years. As concentrated, precious substances, the oils and resins from aromatic plants have played important roles in healing therapies and religious worship across the globe. The effort required to reduce large masses of plant matter into oils made these liquids extremely special commodities in early civilizations. Nowhere in literature is this more apparent than in the Bible. In both the Old and New Testaments, essential oils were prized as symbols of wealth, healing, generosity and faith. From the use of cedarwood and hyssop for physical healing in the book of Leviticus, to Mary of Bethany anointing of Jesus’s feet with her life savings of spikenard in the book of John, essential oils played, and continue to play, an important role in the spiritual lives of Jews and Christians.

The distillation process for essential oils is a relatively new phenomenon that requires a still and a large amount of water to steam out the essential oils. Most likely, the oils we read about in the Bible were infusions of plant material into other more common oils. This, however, does not reduce their potency or their cultural and historical significance. Frankincense, myrrh and the other oils of the Bible were held in high esteem and difficult to obtain. Regardless of their distillation process, creating an aromatic oil has always been a labor-intensive project.

We find about twelve essential oil plants listed in the Bible: juniper, myrtle, spikenard, frankincense, myrrh, galbanum, cinnamon, cedar, cedar and sandalwood, hyssop and cypress. One part of the puzzle that is unclear to modern scholars is whether all these plants were used as essential oils or if they were herbal plant remedies. Regardless, the Bible certainly makes reference to the Jews and Christians using these plants for anointing and also for medicine. There are varying interpretations of how many healing plants mentioned in the Bible were used for medicinal or sacred purposes. However, contemporary aromatherapy still recognizes these oils as important ingredients in the essential oil repertoire, and it is clear humankind has valued these plants for thousands of years.

The plants found in the Bible thrive in a dry, desert climate with limited rainfall. This sparse landscape has provided some of our most revered essential oils. The essential oils of the Old and New Testaments are derived from a number of plants, ranging from barks to flowers and berries. Cinnamon, also known as cassia, is a pungent-smelling tree bark that rolls on itself when it is desiccated. Other trees, like cedar, juniper, cypress and aloes (sandalwood), were used for wood as well as healing and religious ritual. Another beloved aromatherapy plant that grew well in the Mediterranean was myrtle, a flowering shrub. The resins - galbanum, myrrh and frankincense- also came from trees. The sticky masses were included in incense and frequently lit directly for use in rituals. These valuable substances were prized for their heavy aromas and their ability to keep for many years. Just like in Biblical times, frankincense and myrrh are still employed in instances when heightened states of spiritual awareness are desired. At last, spikenard, sometimes seen as nard, is an herb found in Asia. Treasured for its unique scent, spikenard was brought to the Mediterranean and used in perfumery.

When searching for Biblical references to medicinal plants, the Old Testament is the place to begin. Myrrh, one of the first oils to be referenced, can be found in Exodus 30:23-29. After wandering in the desert after their escape from Egypt, the Israelites, led by Moses, were asked by God to have an anointing oil made for the ritualistic objects in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. This portable altar was carried as the Israelites roamed for forty years in the desert. The oil, which was made from olive oil, cinnamon, cane and myrrh, was used to transform the ritual implements into sacred instruments. The process of anointing both humans and objects can be found throughout the Bible as an act of faith and worship.

The birth and death of Jesus both contain references to aromatic oils as offerings. Matthew 2:11 recounts the arrival of the magi at the time of Jesus’s birth in Bethlehem. Following a guiding star, these kings arrived where Mary had just given birth and offered the baby frankincense and myrrh, oils which are still used today to induce spiritual awakenings. During Jesus’s life, he was anointed with oil of spikenard on two different occasions, once by a woman who broke a jar and poured it over his head and once by Mary of Bethany. Mary, who had purchased the spikenard with her life savings, anointed Jesus’s feet and rubbed the oil in with her hair. In each instance, the bestowal of oils were a gift of great worth.

The oils found in the Old and New Testaments are still important substances in contemporary aromatherapy. We use them to access meditative states and to heal the body of physical ailments. Because of the Biblical reverence for these beautiful plant medicines, these oils have retained their cultural value and continue to be cherished across the world. Aromatherapy is a fairly new natural science, but the medicines we revere are ancient. Through studying how these essences were used in past generations, we enhance our understanding of the intricate relationship between spirituality, human life and the natural world.

The Bible lists approximately one dozen oil-creating plants by name, including aloes (also known as sandalwood), cinnamon, cedarwood, cypress, frankincense, galbanum, juniper (broom tree), hyssop, myrrh, myrtle and spikenard. It is not clear whether these plants were all used as aromatic oils during Biblical times, or whether they were used in their raw herbal form, yet a strong tradition of using these plants for healing and anointing is apparent in the many references found in the Old and New Testaments. Different resources list various numbers of Bible passages related to using these plants, and there are many opinions on whether all of the plants mentioned are the same plants we know them as today. Regardless of the wide range of opinions on the exact historical uses of these plants, it is important to note that these oils continue to be highly valued in modern aromatherapy and herbal healing, even in light of modern science.

Acupuncture is here for long time. Its authenticity is still a debatable issue. But the recent study that the acupuncture can dramatically lower blood pressure. According to this study, when low level of electrical stimulation was given at specific points on the front legs of rats lower the elevation in blood pressure. This study provides a setting stage for large-scale trails on humans and another option for healthcare practitioner treating high blood pressure patients. This study proves that acupuncture can be an excellent complements to other medical treatments, especially those treating high blood pressure problems.

In acupuncture, the nerves in the skin and muscles are stimulated by the penetration of thin, metallic, solid needles at anatomic points also known as acupuncture points or acupoints and this produces a wide variety of effects. It causes the system to increase the release of natural painkillers. These natural painkillers, endorphin and serotonin, are released in the pain pathway of the brain and the spinal cord causing the pain signals which are received to be modifie.

Acupuncture is a method of curing illnesses through the insertion of needles in targeted points in the body for improved stimulation. The needles used for acupuncture are very thin. They are only a little thicker than a human hair. The main purpose of acupuncture is actually to normalize the flow of blood and balance the yin and yang in the body but, because it is very effective in curing certain diseases, it is now used as an alternative healing method.

Acupuncture is used in the treatment of pain but not for that sole purpose only. Since many studies showed that acupuncture had the ability to relieve pain it was thought that it only had that purpose. Acupuncture is used in a wide variety of treatments for various ailments.

There are relatively few complications using acupuncture but there are certain risks involved if acupuncture is not used by trained and qualified acupuncture practitioners. Improper use of needles could result in certain organs being pierced, fainting, convulsions, nerve damage and also the onset of infections and also allergic reaction. If the needle is not placed properly, it can cause soreness and pain. If the needles are defective, blunt or if the patient moves, this could also lead to pain. If you have acupuncture when you are pregnant, there is possibility of harming the fetus as stimulation of the production of the hormone adrenocorticotropic and oxytocin which affects labor may take place

Many people have the misconception that acupuncture is quite painful; this concept is false, because undergoing acupuncture is actually painless. Most of the acupuncture being performed on television is also misleading because the normal needles used to acupuncture are so thin that it is difficult to see with your eyes alone. The needles as big as injection needles that are used in television are merely for demonstration purposes

If you are one of those toiling millions suffering from acute depression, anxiety and stress, then acupuncture can serve as a perfect remedy. Acupuncture is a holistic method that can integrate functions of mind and body and balance all types of emotional distresses naturally and effectively. With acupuncture proving its success in the whole world, conventional treatments like anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills should be thrown aside. To enhance the overall mood of a person, there is nothing better than acupuncture.

Like a lightning rod attracts and directs the immense power of lightning, so an acupuncture needle attracts and re-directs the energy currents of the body. An acupuncture treatment can zone in on one specific area of complaint, but often you are asked about your entire medical history so your whole body can be worked. Acupuncture is called a holistic form of treatment, since your entire body, emotions and stress levels are also seen as having powerful effects on your health. Treating acne with acupuncture is not as far-fetched as it might first sound.

A long day on the job can be very distressing. Workers know this so they try to look for ways to unwind and compose themselves. They spend two hours in theaters, dine out with friends, go to bars, and spend a night with the company of their colleagues. However there are many people who would prefer staying in the comforts of their residences. Most of them would rather spend an hour or two in their outdoor jacuzzis, where they can relax and assuage their senses. Massage bathtubs are also more inexpensive in the long run especially for those who frequent spas. It is no surprise then that a lot of manufacturers are now putting out a lot of variants of this kind of tub, especially with the rising demand for this type of luxury.

This is the essential jet therapy that has been popular among many people. It is in sharp contrast with whirlpool system because the entire body is massaged. Not only will it calm your muscles and joints, but more importantly enhance the strength and tone of your muscles. Bubbles are fun to play with since are gentle in nature. You can soak in the tub to your hearts content with this type of massage bathtubs.

Then there’s the water jet, and the whirlpool massage. As its name suggest, this type of tub boast of water jets which helps propel the water through an opening located at the side of the tub. You should also note that acupuncture is not only used to cure diseases, it can also be used to relieve back pain, muscle pain, or to just stimulate the flow of your blood so you feel energized. For example, a symptomatic treatment is a very difficult procedure because it requires that the acupuncturist remove the symptoms of an illness. The acupuncturist must know the critical acupuncture points he should stimulate and he must be knowledgeable about how the point relates to other parts of the body.

Acupuncture is widely used today. It often prevents the use of cortisone, painkillers and surgery. Studies have shown that about 61% of patients who were treated with acupuncture after being paralyzed as a result of a stroke showed great improvement.
