Be in control of your Childbirth

Every woman dreams of a Natural Childbirth. It is after all the way it should be. However, in this day and age it seems to have become unusual to have a natural childbirth.

These days Caesarean Deliveries are becoming not only common but popular too. Women do not seem to have the time or the patience for nature to run its course. Sometimes there is no option, but some women actually choose a C-section for convenience.

You have no idea what you miss out on if you do not have a natural childbirth. Particular childhood illnesses and disorders are now being traced back to ‘non-natural’ births. Coming into the world through the birth canal is a key stage in ones life.

I had two natural childbirths, both without drugs or medical treatment. My experience was one of joy. It doesn’t have to be scary or a story of horror.

Preparation is everything. I started preparing for birth before even getting pregnant but it is never too late to look into it.

Avoiding unhealthy foods and checking you have a good diet are key. You have to be well in order for your baby to have the optimal start in life. Rid your body of toxins, instead ensure proper nutrition enters it.

Yoga is good on so many levels. It not only strengthens your body and gives you flexibility, it also teaches you how to breathe and relax. Things that youll appreciate fully during the birth procedure. There are even pregnancy yoga classes these days.

Knowledge and Techniques are the two most important factors in realizing a natural childbirth.

You need to know what your body will go through and prepare it. I used some wonderful techniques such as massaging my perineum and also learning specific positions that would help my baby during contractions and the birth.

There are many ways to birth. That’s something you should look into. Maybe there is a way of birthing that really appeals to you. I had a Waterbirth which I found to be wonderful. You can find details about other such techniques and resources on my website.

Your midwife is a key person in the natural childbirth process. She should be supportive of your requirements and be knowledgable. This person will guide you not only at the birth but in the months leading up to the birth. Hence it is essential you find one you like and get on with. Ask around, people are always happy to tell you about their experiences.

Natural Childbirth is feasible if you do your work and preparation. Not only that, you can enjoy it and experience the wonder of it at the same time. In turn your child will be born the way nature intended.

If you’ve been trying unsuccessfully to have a child, it can be devastating to both you and your partner. The thought never crossed your mind before, the fact that you may never be able to have children of your own, but hope is not lost. You still can have a child of your own as there exist treatments for infertility. They aren’t cheap; in fact, they can be downright expensive. If money is an issue, you should also know that there is infertility treatment insurance that can help you with the costs. What you first want to do is get tested, both you and your partner, to see which one of you has the problem. Then, talk to your doctor about the latest treatments for infertility, payment options, infertility treatment insurance, and ask your doctor to answer any questions you may have. It’s possible that you end up having you own child. It even may be the result of the first treatment you try. In any case, don’t loose faith. New treatments appear everyday.

Making The Test

There are several reasons why you may be unable to have a child of your own. The man could have a low sperm count, the woman could have something wrong with egg production or her fallopian tubes, or it could be anything from low hormone production to a certain disease. These are the reasons you’ll want to get tested. Consider that it’s absolutly necessary if you want your doctor to make the best decision for you. Now, you’ll have to pass the bareer of fear. What if I’m the problem? You must speak with your partner and perfectly agree both that it’s a problem of both of you. You, as a couple, want to get a baby, and as such must resolve the problem as one. To give more confidence in your partner, make the test first. Show your love supporting the other. Whatever will come will be half-way to pregnancy.

Trying Various Options

If money is aproblem, start looking for infertility treatment insurance. It can help you pay the various treatments, because you must know that not necessarily the first one will be the good one. You must also prepare to the deseperation of failure. It’s worth it to try every treatment you can until you find one that works for you. There are many treatments out there, and some work for some people but not for others, and your doctor should be able to determine which treatment for infertility is best for you based on your test results.

Natural Treatments

An alternative is to go natural as natural infertility treatments exist. These are typically herbal supplements that you take to increase your chances of having your own children. Of course, the cost is much lower. They’re all natural and generally do not present any rick. Consider as a cheap option. You might want to try these natural treatments first before you spend all your money on the latest pharmaceutical treatments.

Whatever happens, remember! When you’ll have the family photo album with your child, you won’t even remember all the sacrifice you’ve made. The joy and happiness of having your own child will overcome all this. You’ll just remember the good moments. The bad ones are worthwile. Go and get pregnant!

One of the most memorable and life changing times in any woman’s life will be the times she is pregnant. We all know our memories fade over time. So don’t go nine months without getting in front of a camera! Documenting your pregnancy through photographs may be an important part of your family legacy for your children.

It is not necessary to spend the money or take the time to go to a professional studio if you do not want to. Beautiful pictures can be taken at home and they will be just as memorable. You can make your own background by tacking sheets in front of a window. The natural light shining through the sheet creates a professional look. A white backdrop with the expectant mother wearing white maternity t shirts make for a very dramatic black and white photograph. This can be a very artistic and beautiful shot.

One thing to keep in mind is that you are trying to document your belly in these pictures. So make sure you are wearing shirts that hug your belly and are not too large. You can buy perfect fitting maternity t shirts in both casual and dressy styles for whatever type of photograph you want.

A really fun thing to do is take a picture in the same position throughout your pregnancy so that the changes in your belly are highlighted. Also, digital pictures can be printed onto baby shower invitations as a special treat.

Fathers are obviously another important part of pregnancy and should be included in some of the maternity pictures. Just the act of taking these photos will be fond memories for any parent. Of course, if circumstances will not allow for this, you can always crop George Clooney into you picture!

Morning Sickness - What A Terrible Choice of Words!

June 24, 2009 by Richard H Ealom

INTRODUCTION: Morning sickness is the “sea sick” feeling you get during pregnancy and can be, but is not always, accompanied by vomiting. These nauseating feelings, which can actually come over you at any time of the day, can really put a damper on your excitement about being pregnant. It can only become a problem for your unborn child if you can’t keep any foods or fluids down and begin to lose a lot of weight. This problem and the others that happen around this time are nearly always mild enough to manage on your own and occurs in 50% to 80% of new mother’s to be.

NAUSEA AND VOMITING: Nausea and vomiting can be one of the first signs of pregnancy and usually begins around the sixth week after conception and continue beyond your fourth month of pregnancy. These signs usually leave 12 to 14 weeks into pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting are the most common complaints of pregnant women and can be made worse by lying on her side.

This nausea seems to stem, at least in part, from rapidly rising levels of estrogen, which causes the stomach to empty more slowly. You should always contact your health care provider: If you are experiencing excessive nausea and vomiting that prevents you from keeping any food down, If vomiting is accompanied by pain or fever, If nausea and vomiting persists well into the second trimester (after 13th week).

TREATMENT: The most important thing is to inform your health care provider when these symptoms appear and discuss possible options. Severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum) may require a stay in the hospital and treatment with intravenous (IV) fluids and medications, including anti-emetics, which control nausea.

Some women do not seek treatment for morning sickness because of concerns about treatment safety. Yet, once symptoms progress, treatment can become more difficult. Mild cases may be resolved with lifestyle and dietary changes, and safe and effective measures are available for more severe cases. Your best course of action for managing the nausea and vomiting is home treatment. These measures include: Changing what, when, and how much you eat.

Therefore, during the first-trimester use home treatment for your symptoms, unless your health care professional recommends medicine. Taking Vitamin B6 or Vitamin B6 plus doxylamine (an antihistamine) is safe and effective and should be considered a first-line treatment. Although ginger ale or ginger tea may ease mild nausea, your best bet for treating with ginger is with regular daily use. With any over-the-counter supplement, including herbs, it’s always a good idea to check with your physician first, particularly to make sure the symptoms aren’t related to a more serious condition that needs medical treatment.

However, few women get complete relief from morning sickness with any treatment. If you’re looking for medical advice, a diagnosis, or treatment, speak to your physician or other qualified medical professional.

CONCLUSION: Morning sickness, which can occur at any time of the day or night, is one of the classic symptoms of pregnancy. The term is a misnomer, since it can happen at any time of the day or night and is more common with women who are under a great deal of stress, either at work or home.

Signs can range from mild, occasional nausea to severe, continuous, disabling nausea with episodes of vomiting and generally improves by the 13th or 14th week of pregnancy, but some women continue to feel nausea into their second trimester. Also, it may be more severe if this is your 1st pregnancy or if you’re carrying multiple fetuses.

Most women who experience morning sickness notice a dramatic improvement after the 1st trimester - at roughly 13 weeks. For prevention: Eat frequent small meals, every two or three hours, rather than 3 large meals daily. Try ginger, which has proven effective in fighting morning sickness. Proven ginger products include: ginger tea, ginger candy, and ginger soda. Call your physician if your symptoms do not improve, despite trying these treatments.

How to Conceive a Baby Boy - 3 Crucial Tips If You Want To Conceive A Boy

June 24, 2009 by Joseph Alford

There are many natural methods a couple can implement to increasing the chances of selecting the gender of choice. The benefit of going through natural methods to conceive a boy is that you do not have to go through costly medical procedures such as artificial insemination. Here are 3 natural methods that you can use right away to increase your chances of conceiving a boy.

1. Time intercourse on the day of ovulation

The best method to conceive a boy naturally is to conceive on the day of ovulation. This helps create an environment that gives the sperm responsible for conceiving a boy a better advantage. Use an ovulation prediction kit to accurately determine when this will occur. Be sure to choose those kits that will use your saliva as they are the most accurate.

2. Always keep the alkaline levels of the woman’s reproductive environment high

Acidic levels are extremely hostile to the male sperm so making the vaginal tract more alkaline will increase the chances of conceiving a boy. Making the vaginal tract more alkaline starts by increasing intake of foods high in sodium and potasium and also making the women orgasm during intercourse. Be sure to eat foods such as apples, bananas and potatoes as these help to increase alkaline levels.

3. Aim for sexual positions that encourage deep penetration

Sexual position matters a great deal as the cervix is naturally more alkaline than the entrance which gives a better advantage to the male sperm. Depositing the sperm closer to the cervix can be accomplished via deeper penetration sexual positions for the male sperm to fertilize the eggs first.

Having to pay for costly medical procedures is often unnecessary in learning how to conceive a boy. Fortunately, there are natural ways to increasing your chances by timing intercourse correctly, increasing alkaline levels and aiming for deeper penetration during intercourse. Even if you end up giving birth to a baby girl, you will still grow to love them just as much.

Getting Health Insurance For Pregnant Women

June 24, 2009 by Tom Harkenshire

Health insurance is a necessity, that is clear to everyone. However, when dealing with pregnant woman this issue becomes even more important. This reason is obvious: clearly there is the risk of complications during pregnancy, as well as procedures that could ease the woman’s pregnancy (which can be very hard at times). Consequently, it is crucial that pregnant woman possess health insurance and regularly see a doctor for check-ups.

That being said, many pregnant women do not possess any form of health insurance. This is dangerous: it has been statistically demonstrated that children born to women who have not received medical treatment during their pregnancy are more likely to have low birth weight, as well as higher incidents of death.

What may come as a surprise to the reader is the large number of Americans that do not possess health insurance (some 41 million US citizens). Consequently, about 13% of pregnant women in this country do not possess health insurance as well. This is dangerous for the women as well as their unborn children.

Furthermore, if a pregnant woman does wish to be regularly checked, even without health insurance, this could become a very expensive procedure. Prenatal checkups are very expensive, and hospital and delivery charges could easily cost more than $10,000. If there are any complications (i.e. premature birth, cesarean section surgery), the costs could become significantly larger. Thus, it is absolutely crucial for a pregnant woman to obtain health insurance.

The problem is that most companies do not accept new insurance policies from pregnant women whose pregnancy has been assessed as a pre-existing condition. Ideally, if you are a woman and you know you wish to get pregnant, things would be much easier for you if you got health insurance before you got pregnant. That being said, if you are uninsured and found out you are pregnant, here are some useful tips that could help you obtain health insurance:

First, shop around, search the internet, for health insurance companies who can provide pregnancy health coverage and discounted health care coverage. These days it is easy to get free instant quotes from multiple providers online. Some may very well be more affordable than others.

Second, there are some federally funded programs which offer healthcare coverage for low income people. Medicaid, for example, allows you to enroll in a health insurance plan even when you are pregnant. An additional program is CHIP. Some states have specialized programs for this purpose: investigate whether your state offers one.

Third, check with other agencies, such as WIC. WIC offers low income women and children under 5 to get health services. It also provides food supplements.

In conclusion, if you are in this position and yet are able to get several possible health plans, choose your plan carefully. Specifically, make sure your plans covers everything that you need (i.e. a hospital only plan will not cover visits to a physician’s clinic).

Pregnancy and Snoring ” Putting Mother and Baby at Risk

June 23, 2009 by Christian Goodman

My good friends were waiting for their first child to be born when in her last month of pregnancy, the mother to be developed a problem with snoring.

This was disrupting both their sleep patterns but only the husband was noticing because he was being kept awake by the snoring. His wife was blissfully unaware.

Twenty-five to thirty percent of pregnant women snore during the last four weeks of pregnancy.

While I could both empathize and sympathize with my friend, my concern was much greater for his expectant wife. No matter how temporary her condition, pregnancy is a serious condition with major body and hormone changes occurring simultaneously.

When you snore your airways are obstructed, meaning less oxygen gets into the lungs. Its usually quite loud but other times barely noticeable.

Most people dont snore loudly enough to wake themselves up. The tell-tale signs are next day fatigue and nasal decongestion.

There is more than one reason why one would start snoring during pregnancy. The first is that when women gain weight during pregnancy, it tends to accumulate in the throat and neck. This, in turn, puts added pressure on the airways forcing them to become obstructed.

Additionally, with the increased blood flow due to an increase to support both mother and developing baby forces blood vessels in the neck to expand and therefore, increase the size of the surrounding mucous membranes. They put pressure on and obstruct the airways.

Of the up to 30% of women who do snore during pregnancy, 15% of those will go on to develop a chronic condition and this can lead to health issues such as pregnancy induced hypertension.

In some cases, the snoring can develop into sleep apnea. In this case, the airway not only constricts but also closes for several seconds (sometimes up to a minute) and this in turn, restricts the mother and baby from getting the necessary oxygen they need.

For women who snored before they were pregnant, the risk for sleep apnea is much higher. They must seek treatment or they are putting themselves at risk for edema ” swelling in the legs, arms, face, feet and hands and preeclampsia ” increased blood pressure and protein in the urine. This can lead to disastrous health consequences for both mother and baby.

Babies can suffer from both low birth rates and lowered Apgar scores. These scores measure the babys heart rate, reflexes, breathing, skin color and muscle tone.

Reducing the chances of pregnancy induced snoring may be as simple as keeping your weight healthy, losing weight before becoming pregnant if you are obese, avoiding caffeine, propping the head with another pillow and lying on ones side when sleeping.

If you suffer from snoring or mild sleep apnea, I highly encourage you to try my Stop Snoring program ” no nasty side effects for you or your baby!

Is Choosing The Gender Of Your Baby A Old Wives Tale?

June 23, 2009 by Kathy Forcey

Many couples out there would like to have a girl or a boy only to find out that they have conceived the opposite sex. If you just so happen to be one of those couples, then you’re probably wondering if it’s possible increase the likelihood of conceiving a little girl or boy the next time you get pregnant? If so, then chances are you do not know about the existence of gender selection methods.

If you want to have a little boy or girl very much and you keep having the opposite sex, then you should look into some of the techniques for pre-selection of a baby’s gender. Many individuals do not even realize gender selection methods exist, so naturally, there’s a bit of disbelief when they found out these methods do indeed work with a high degree of accuracy.

Whatever process you are thinking about going for, one thing is for sure and that is the fact that it will end up costing you some money. Is it going to guarantee that you get that beautiful baby boy or girl that you have been wanting? No, it will not, but the likelihood that you will conceive a baby of your desired gender are greatly increased.

A number of gender selection methods depend on the IVF process to induce conception. Using In Vitro Fertiilization will increase your chances of getting pregnant by about thirty five percent and many couples rely on this procedure to achieve a successful pregnancy.

The PGD method, which is short for Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis, is something that some couples can turn to in order to predetermine the sex of their baby. PGD is illegal in most countries unless there is a medical reason to justify its use. You should take note that this method could cost you quite a bit of money and you are still not one hundred percent guaranteed to get pregnant. However, you are close to being one hundred percent sure of your baby’s gender if you do get pregnant using this method.

During PGD, they will be taking the embryo and determining the sex of it before they put it in the uterus. This method has been banned in many countries, so you should check and make sure your clinic is able to do it. Nearly every method out there involves the IVF process, so even with PGD, you still only have a thirty five percent of a successful pregnancy.

Take note that there are alternative ways that you can use in order to select the gender of your baby. Just as there are natural ways for reducing labor pain and curing that headache, there are natural gender selection methods to conceive a girl or a boy. These natural methods involve keeping track of your ovulations times, using certain positions during intercourse and changing the diet a bit.
